Renewable energy industry overview

With mounting environmental pressure on governments world-wide to identify opportunities for renewable energy sources, the use of both on and off-shore wind farms is set to increase, with the UK leading the way in this sector since 2008.  In the UK there are >1,000 wind turbines and more than 20 projects underway to increase these levels (as of January 2014).

Employment growth in the sector has been substantial, growing to nearly 7,000 full time positions since 2008 and with targets for up to 20% of all UK electricity to come from this sector by 2020, employment levels are expected to rise steadily.
