Duration: 4 days (0900hrs – 1700hrs daily)

Prerequisites: Those undertaking this training must have completed Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (Section A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code) or similar training acceptable to the MCA.

The following certifications are accepted:

  • STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting certificate
  • MNTB Stage One Fire Fighting course
  • Royal Navy Fire Fighting course

Although not recommended those who have not undertaken training in accordance with the above may undergo combined training covering the requirements for basic Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting as well as the Advanced Fire Fighting.

Assessment:

Students will be assessed throughout the week on your practical ability to control fire fighting operations.

STCW Basic Safety Training

The STCW Advanced Fire Fighting Course forms part of the training required for deck and engineering officers who wish to qualify for a certificate of competency and crew who are designated to control firefighting operations.

Furthermore, this course builds upon the basic skills learnt whilst undergoing the STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting course. A large emphasis is placed upon “Command and Control” to ensure in addition to the basic skills you can control the emergency if required.

During this highly practical course, you will be put through your paces to ensure we build upon your knowledge and confidence. However, don’t be worried as each course will be tailored to your individual needs and capabilities. We aim to get the best out of you at all times.
