Description

A Cost-Effective Fire Safety Solution for Vessels Under 24m

This MCA-approved 1-day fire fighting course offers a practical and cost-effective alternative to the STCW Basic Fire Fighting (2-3 day) course for vessels under 24m. While not STCW-approved, this course provides a more appropriate level of training for vessels primarily using fire extinguishers and fixed engine room fire systems, rather than breathing apparatus.

Specifically designed for smaller vessels: This course focuses on the fire fighting techniques and equipment commonly found on vessels under 24m. The course incorporates elements of the code and offshore vessel fire fighting appliance requirements, ensuring compliance and best practices. The course includes hands-on fire fighting training using extinguishers and fire blankets.

Meets Workboat Code Requirements:

  • Vessels up to 15m: At least one crew member must complete an MCA-approved 1-day fire fighting course, STCW Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention course, or an equivalent Royal Navy course.
  • Vessels over 15m: All crew members must complete an MCA-approved 1-day fire fighting course, STCW Fire Fighting and Prevention course, or an equivalent Royal Navy course.

  • Actions to isolate or reduce fire, including gas, electrical, and fuel shut-offs
