Description

This four-day course, formerly known as "Advanced Sea Survival," provides the essential skills and knowledge needed to take command of a survival craft or rescue boat in an emergency. Through a mix of classroom theory and practical, hands-on training at a lifeboat station and in the water, you'll learn to manage a survival situation from the moment you abandon ship.

What You'll Master

This course is designed to prepare you for a leadership role in a life-or-death situation. Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Take Command of a Survival Craft: Learn to take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat, ensuring its safe and effective operation both during and after launch. This includes understanding the various types of survival craft, their components, and their capabilities.

  • Manage Survivors: Develop the skills to manage and care for survivors after abandoning the ship. You'll learn how to maintain morale, organize duties, and provide essential support to ensure the well-being of everyone on board.

  • Operate Equipment: Confidently operate a survival craft engine and use all onboard equipment. This includes communications devices, signaling apparatus, and pyrotechnics to attract rescue.

  • Provide First Aid: Apply basic first aid to survivors, a critical skill that can increase their chances of survival while awaiting rescue.

The course is a comprehensive blend of theory and practice. You'll spend time in the classroom understanding the principles of survival, then apply that knowledge in a controlled environment, gaining real-world experience.
