What is the AEC1 & AEC2 Package and who is it for?

The 5-day AEC1 course covers essential marine diesel engine theory and practical maintenance, providing foundational knowledge for entry-level roles and meeting MCA commercial vessel requirements. The follow-on 5-day AEC2 course builds on this, diving into advanced systems and maintenance, crucial for senior and dual-role positions, and contributing to your MEOL.

Both courses offer expert-led, hands-on training in our dedicated engineering shed. Gain comprehensive skills, enhance your career prospects, and secure two indispensable qualifications with no expiry.

MCA Approved AEC1 and AEC2 marine engineering course engine maintenance training

This course contains some exercises that are physically demanding. Any candidate unsure of their fitness for such activities should consult their doctor.

Please note:

  • Annex 5 of the Safety of Large Commercial Sailing and Motor Vessels defines the Engineering Competencies required for these vessels.
  • Annex 7 of the Safety of Small Commercial Motor Vessels defines the Engineering Competencies required for these vessels.
  • Annex 11 of the Safety of Small Workboats and Pilot Boats defines the Engineering Competencies required for these vessels.
