This course is designed to provide seafarers with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills to deliver medical first aid on board a vessel

In line with STCW regulations, this training is highly practical, combining critical theory with realistic scenarios and specific medical equipment. You'll gain the confidence to manage a range of medical emergencies and injuries at sea.

What You'll Learn

This module prepares you to be the first medical responder in an emergency. You will master skills in:

  • Life-Saving Procedures: Confidently perform resuscitation and manage an unconscious casualty.

  • Injury Management: Learn to assess and treat a variety of injuries, including bleeding, shock, wounds, burns, and fractures.

  • Medical Emergencies: Respond effectively to medical incidents such as poisoning or those related to extreme temperatures.

  • Patient Care: Understand the proper handling of a casualty, including communication with medical professionals and the use of on-board medical equipment.

  • Emerging Skills: Gain proficiency in using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

By the end of this course, you will be fully prepared to provide medical first aid and care for a rescued casualty, ensuring the best possible outcome until professional help arrives.

None. Candidates must be at least 16 years of age.
