Each year, approximately 4,500 individuals step up to the professional maritime sector. This course transforms you from a leisure sailor into a professional seafarer with a "Duty of Care" legally comparable to a cruise liner captain.
You will learn the essential legal frameworks, safety management systems, and ethical responsibilities required to keep your crew, passengers, and vessel safe. The course is broken down into four interactive modules:
- Commercial Environment: Understanding your status and liabilities within the professional maritime industry.
- People: The importance of appropriate staffing, managing crew competency, and creating a safe culture onboard.
- Vessel: Mandatory safety equipment, maintenance schedules, and the implementation of effective risk management.
- Purpose: Ensuring your vessel is legally compliant for its specific task, understanding environmental responsibilities, and situational awareness.

Format
This course typically takes 6 to 8 hours to complete. It is self-paced, meaning your progress is automatically saved, allowing you to log out and resume whenever convenient.
Assessment
The course concludes with a graded online assessment.
