Description

This comprehensive course provides the essential skills and knowledge for working safely and effectively in a wind turbine environment. Through a blend of theoretical and practical training, you will learn to navigate the unique challenges of working at height and on the ground, ensuring both your safety and that of your team.

The course covers the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe working procedures, and vital rescue techniques. Additionally, it focuses on positive manual handling to reduce the risk of injury and improve efficiency.

What You'll Master

This module combines theory with hands-on training and realistic simulations, giving you the confidence to perform safely and responsibly. You will learn how to:

  • Work Safely at Height: Master the use of basic PPE and apply safe working practices to minimize risks in all situations.

  • Perform Rescues: Gain the ability to perform comprehensive basic rescues from height, using a custom-made working-at-heights rig for realistic training.

  • Handle Materials Safely: Develop ergonomic awareness and learn effective manual handling techniques to prevent injuries and promote a more efficient workflow.

Upon successful completion, you will receive an industry-recognized certification, confirming your competence in these critical safety areas.

Note: This course is designed to provide safety and rescue skills. It does not assess or overcome a fear of heights. Participants should already be comfortable with working at height.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites for attending the GWO Basic Safety Training Course, however, participants must be at least 18 years old and in good physical health. WINDA Registration – Register with WINDA (the Global Wind Organisation training database) before starting the course.
