Crisis Management and Human Behaviour Training Course

Certificate validity: The STCW requirement for refresher training at 5-yearly intervals must be met, or individuals must provide evidence of achieving the required standard of competence within the previous 5 years, as identified in STCW Regulation V/2, paragraph 3.

Certification: Upon successful completion a Certificate will be issued under the authority of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency of the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and Northern Ireland, an executive agency of the Department for Transport.

Prerequisites: None

Duration: 1 Day (0900hrs – 1700hrs)

What is the STCW Crisis Management and Human Behaviour course?

To give masters, chief engineer officers, chief mates, second engineer officers, qualified deck/ engineering/electro technical officers and able seafarers having responsibility for the safety of
passengers in emergency situations the essential education and training in crisis management and human behaviour meeting the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency requirements set out

Regulations V/2, paragraph 6 and Section A-V/2, paragraph 3 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978 as amended

This course contains some exercises that are physically demanding. Any candidate unsure of their fitness for such activities should consult their doctor.

Organise shipboard emergency procedures
Optimise the use of resources
Control response to emergencies
Control passengers and other personnel during emergency situations
Establish and maintain effective communications
