Prerequisites: All delegates must hold a valid and in-date GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Certificate, or have training records in WINDA for the relevant Modules.
Certification: Upon successful completion of the GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) courses, candidates will receive Global Wind Organisation approved certificates valid for two years.

Independently recognise, assess, and prioritise the need for basic first aid and provide life-saving first aid until the casualty can be handed over to the next level of care in case of an incident in the wind turbine industry/WTG
Take responsibility for recognising their limitations as a basic first aider, calling for help and enabling evacuation of the casualty in case of an incident in the wind turbine industry/WTG environment. (Intermediate Ability)

This GWO Basic Safety Training First Aid Refresher course at South West Maritime Academy is designed to refresh and enhance your existing first aid knowledge and skills specifically for the wind industry. The course covers a wide range of essential topics, including legal compliance (local regulations, ERC and AHA guidelines), human body and common injuries, emergency management in wind turbine environments, life-saving techniques (including the Primary Survey and A-B-C approach), AED proficiency, secondary survey, and the use of first aid equipment.
Our training is highly practical, with a 60/40 split between scenario-based exercises and classroom instruction. This immersive approach allows you to apply your knowledge in realistic simulations, building confidence and competence.
Our instructors are industry professionals with extensive experience and qualifications. They are rigorously vetted and approved to deliver this specialized training, ensuring you receive the highest quality instruction. All training staff are approved to teach and assess the modules they deliver, guaranteeing they are appropriately qualified with relevant technical, industrial experience, and professional practice.
GWO Basic Safety Training refresher modules are valid for two years. To maintain your certification, you must renew your certificates and training records before they expire. You can renew up to two months before your current certificate expires and keep the original expiration date by uploading the “valid until” date from your previous certificate into WINDA. If you renew more than two months before your certificate expires, the new certificate will show the date of the refresher training. You can only take a refresher course while your current certificate is still valid. If your certificate or training record has already expired, you must complete the full Basic Safety Training module(s) again.
