Description

This course provides essential training in personal safety and social responsibility for seafarers. It is a fundamental component of the STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Basic Safety Training, teaching you how to act safely and responsibly on board a vessel. You will gain a clear understanding of shipboard life, emergency procedures, and your individual rights and obligations.

What You'll Learn

This module covers critical aspects of shipboard operations and personal conduct, including:

  • Emergency Procedures: Learn to comply with emergency protocols and understand the ship's contingency plans for events like collision, fire, and foundering.

  • Safe Working Practices: Observe and maintain safe working habits to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of yourself and your crewmates.

  • Effective Communication: Understand orders and communicate clearly and effectively in relation to shipboard duties.

  • Human Relationships: Develop a better understanding of human relationships on board, along with your social responsibilities, employment conditions, and the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

  • Environmental Protection: Learn about the effects of marine pollution and the basic procedures for protecting the environment.

This PSSR course can be taken as a standalone module or as a part of our comprehensive STCW Basic Safety Training package.

None. Participants must be aged 16 or over.
