STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

This course provides essential training for anyone beginning a career at sea, covering both theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on skills. It can be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of the five-day STCW Basic Safety Training.

What You'll Learn

Over two and a half days, you will be prepared to respond effectively to fire emergencies at sea. Our expert instructors will guide you through crucial topics, including:

  • Understanding and Preventing Fire: Learn to minimize the risk of fire and maintain a state of readiness by understanding the fire triangle (the elements of fire and explosion) and common ignition sources and flammable materials.

  • Emergency Response: Master shipboard fire-fighting organization, including the location of fire-fighting appliances and emergency escape routes. You'll also learn about fire and smoke detection systems and automatic alarms.

  • Hands-on Skills: Get practical experience in using different extinguishing agents for various classifications of fire. The course culminates in live fire-fighting exercises and training on the use of Breathing Apparatus (BA), ensuring you are confident and competent in a real-world scenario.
