The PSCRB(R) course will provide the education and training to yacht personnel who are required to take charge of a survival craft in emergency situations. This course was intended for crew serving on vessels that are not equipped with davit launched lifeboats, resulting in the shorter course length and a 'restricted' certification. This course is specifically aimed at yacht and superyacht crew.

Description

This course, formerly known as "Advanced Sea Survival for Yacht Crew," is designed for yacht and superyacht personnel who may need to take charge of a survival craft in an emergency.

It provides the essential skills and knowledge to operate survival craft and manage survivors after abandoning ship. Since it's tailored for vessels without davit-launched lifeboats, the course is shorter and results in a restricted certification.

What You'll Master

This training prepares you to be a leader in a survival situation at sea. You will learn to:

  • Take Command of a Survival Craft: Learn to take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat, ensuring its safe and effective operation during and after launch. This includes understanding the various types of survival craft, their components, and their capabilities, specifically as they apply to the types of vessels commonly found in the yachting industry.

  • Manage Survivors: Effectively manage and care for survivors, providing essential support to ensure the well-being of everyone on board. This includes managing morale, organizing tasks, and addressing common challenges faced in a survival situation.

  • Operate Survival Equipment: Confidently operate a survival craft engine and use all on-board equipment. This includes communications devices, signalling apparatus, and pyrotechnics to attract rescue and signal your position.

  • Provide First Aid: Apply basic first aid to survivors, a critical skill that can increase their chances of survival while awaiting rescue.

This course is specifically for yacht and superyacht crew. If you need an unrestricted PSCRB ticket, or if you need to refresh your existing PSCRB certification, please see our other course offerings.
